day in my life living in japan 🇯🇵📚 it’s already been a month since my third semester at @isijapan started, and i’m now studying in 中級Ⅱ ✨ every semester somehow feels like a fresh start. new textbooks, new teachers, new classmates… and another chance to get a little closer to my goal of becoming fluent in japanese (˶ˆᗜˆ˵) at the beginning of the semester we celebrated tanabata by writing our wishes on paper strips 🎋⭐️ my wish? 「日本語がペラペラになりますように。」🥹 i’m definitely not there yet, but looking back at where i started, i’m really happy with how much progress i’ve made already. みなさんは今年の七夕で何をお願いしましたか?✨ #lifeinjapan #日本語学校 #日本語勉強中 #studyinjapan #dayinmylife
if you told me a few years ago i’d be giving an entire presentation in japanese, i would’ve laughed 😭 our final assignment at @ISI Japanese Language School esearch a recent topic and give a presentation completely in japanese. i chose to talk about how young people in japan communicate and why apps like LINE became so popular. the original presentation was almost 8 minutes, but i had to cut it down to under 3 minutes for instagram. that also means a lot of my grammar mistakes, awkward pauses, and moments where i completely blanked aren’t even in this edit 😅 even with all the mistakes, i somehow still ended up getting 100% 😭 looking back at videos like this is one of my favorite ways to see my progress. every semester i become a little more comfortable communicating in japanese, even if i’m still making plenty of mistakes along the way. i’ve already started 中級2-5 and i’m officially back to studying for the jlpt n3 this december 🇯🇵 #learnjapanese #jlptn3 #studyinjapan #japaneselanguage #isijapan
guys… after living in japan for over a year, i’ve somehow STILL never made it to mt. fuji 😭🗻 so this month’s Sakuraco box was actually such a fun surprise because it’s themed around Yamanashi Prefecture, the home of Mt. Fuji! 🤍 instead of waiting until i finally plan the trip, i got to experience some of the region’s traditional snacks, tea, and local specialties from home 🍵✨ one of my favorite things about Sakuraco is that every month feels like you’re discovering a different part of japan without having to stress about what souvenirs to buy or which local treats to try 🥹 💙 Use code “ASHLEY” to receive $5 off your first #Sakuraco box through my link: https://team.sakura.co/ashley thank you to @Sakuraco for sponsoring this video! 🌸 #sakuraco #mtfuji #yamanashi #livinginjapan
i've lived in japan for over a year, and one thing i've learned is that tokyo never runs out of hidden gems. 🇯🇵✨ every time i think i've seen everything in shinjuku, i stumble across somewhere completely new. this time it was a private vintage luxury boutique filled with vintage chanel 🖤, louis vuitton 🤎, and hermès 🧡. i'm definitely not buying one today 😂 but places like this remind me why i work so hard. maybe one day i'll come back for that louis vuitton bag i couldn't stop thinking about. 📍vintage la charme, shinjuku #tokyo #japantravel #japanlife #shinjuku #vintageluxury
our final assignment at isi was to give a 3-minute speech in japanese comparing children today with our own childhood, so i used stories from growing up to explain my opinion. speaking in front of people is already hard, but doing it in another language is a whole different challenge 😭 i practiced this speech so many times at home, but once i stood in front of the class i forgot parts of it, mixed up grammar, and definitely made more mistakes than i wanted. somehow… i still ended up getting 100% 😭 the funniest part is the bell rang while i was still trying to finish 💀 i’m also our class’s 週番 (しゅうばん / shuuban), which is basically the student responsible for leading the class greetings at the beginning and end of each lesson. so i went straight from rushing to finish my speech to immediately doing the closing greeting for everyone 😭 tomorrow i start my next semester in 中級2-5 and keep working toward jlpt n3. still a long way to go, but i’m happy with the progress. #learnjapanese #jlptn3 #studyinjapan #japaneselanguage #isijapan
after living in japan for over a year, these are the 5 apps i’ve actually found myself using the most 🇯🇵 1. go taxi 🚕 2. kuli kuli 📖 3. line 💬 4. paypay 💳 (requires a japanese bank account) 5. navitime 🚆 (japanese only, but worth learning if you live here) if you’re moving to japan, studying abroad, or planning a long-term stay, save this for later. i wish someone had told me about some of these sooner #japanlife #livinginjapan #japanapps #studyabroadjapan #japantraveltips
everyone told me i had to experience tokyo nightlife at least once...😅 after living in japan for over a year, i finally did. i genuinely had no idea what to expect, but now i totally understand why shinjuku is one of the most popular places to go out at night. safe to say i couldn't survive the whole night... ended up getting a net café until the trains started running again and took the first train home the next morning. 📍T2 Shinjuku #tokyonightlife #shinjuku #tokyotravel #japanlife #thingstodointokyo
i’ve realized i really like watching the world cup in japan because everyone is absolutely crazy 😭⚽️ i’m also rewatching blue lock right now, so every match has me way more invested than it probably should 😂 i watched japan vs sweden at perry’s sports bar in shibuya again at 8 AM walking to shibuya crossing afterwards is always fun too. there’s still people in jerseys everywhere and police tryna control thr crowds LOL. i’m already trying to figure out what game to watch next… but brazil’s next match is at 2am, so i’m not sure there’ll be another watch party 🥲 #worldcup #japanfootball #shibuya #lifeinjapan #tokyovlog
i’ve lived in japan for over a year… and somehow almost my entire wardrobe is still from america 😭🇺🇸 so i gave myself a $250 shopping spree at ALAND in shibuya to see if i could finally start dressing a little more like i’m living in japan ✨ i tried on 5 tops, a skirt, and sweatpants, and i’m honestly surprised by how much i liked some of the pieces. it’s definitely different from my usual style, but maybe japanese fashion is starting to win me over 👀 if you’re looking for the best clothing stores in shibuya, shopping in tokyo, or where to buy trendy clothes in japan, ALAND has so many unique pieces that are hard to find outside of asia ✧。٩(ˊᗜˋ )و✧*。 which outfit should i have bought? ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ #shibuyashopping #tokyoshopping #japanfashion #tokyofashion #japantravel
day in my life watching the world cup in japan 🇯🇵⚽️ i headed to shibuya to watch japan vs tunisia at a sports bar and the atmosphere was unreal. japan ended up winning 4-0 and afterwards shibuya was packed with fans filling the streets and the crossing. it honestly felt like the whole city was celebrating together (˶ˆᗜˆ˵) before the game, i also stopped by @cas:pace official to pick up a new phone case 👀 if you’re looking for unique tokyo souvenirs, custom phone cases, airpod cases, straps, and travel gifts, definitely add it to your itinerary. one of those days that reminded me why i love living in japan ₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ ₊˚⊹♡ #worldcup #japanfootball #shibuya #tokyotravel #tokyosouvenirs
