[Ouchijuku, Fukushima Prefecture] ① Business Hours (Event Hours) Ouchijuku is an outdoor historical settlement, so it is generally open year-round and open to the public. However, most souvenir shops and restaurants are open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During winter (December to March), many stores close around 4:00 PM due to snowfall. We recommend visiting during daylight hours, as the number of tourists and lighting decreases after dusk. The Ouchijuku Snow Festival is held every February, and there are special days when you can enjoy night illuminations and fireworks. ② Fees Admission to Ouchijuku itself is free. However, if you visit by car, a parking fee (approximately 500 yen for a standard car) will be required. Additional fees apply for the local specialty "Negi Soba," souvenirs, and museum admission (approximately 250 yen for adults). It's a relatively affordable tourist destination, and its appeal lies in the fact that you can fully enjoy it even if you just want to enjoy the food and photography. ③ Trivia (This is amazing!) Ouchi-juku flourished as a post town on the Aizu-Nishi Kaido road during the Edo period. Even today, over 30 thatched-roof houses remain, making it an extremely rare townscape in Japan. Its most distinctive feature is the complete absence of utility poles and power lines. This is to preserve the landscape, and it feels as if you've traveled back in time to the Edo period. The specialty "Negi Soba" (green onion soba) is eaten in a shocking way, with a single long leek instead of chopsticks. The leek, which doubles as a condiment, chopsticks, and topping, is extremely photogenic and has become a huge hit on social media. The view of Ouchi-juku from the observation point changes with the seasons, and the snowy winter scenery is particularly representative of "primitive Japanese scenery." ④ Directions (Access) - By Train Get off at Yunokami Onsen Station on the Aizu Railway. Take the Aizu Bus for approximately 15 minutes and get off at Ouchijuku. (Yunokami Onsen Station has a thatched-roof building, making it a great photo spot.) - By Car Approximately 50 minutes from Aizu-Wakamatsu Interchange on the Ban'etsu Expressway. Approximately 60 minutes from Shirakawa Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway.
