Think of it more of an omakase course where you’ll get to enjoy both wagyu and matcha, rather than wagyu with matcha sauce. There are 8-9 courses total and each was unique and delicious 😋 You can really tell how much the chefs care about their craft. They’re really putting on a performance throughout the entire meal. Would you visit a pain clinic in Korea? 🇰🇷 It seems like there’s a clinic for almost everything in Korea, but it was my first time hearing of a pain clinic. My consultation started before I even went in when I spoke with someone via email about my problem areas. After taking X-rays at the office, I met with a doctor (translator present) to discuss what treatments would be best for me 💉 Everyone here was so friendly and they made sure I was comfortable the whole time. All of the doctors here have 15+ years of expertise. Each treatment came with an explanation, so I was always aware of what was going on. My 3 non-negotiables for a good sushi omakase restaurant! 🍣 Tonight we tried Sushi Nagahama located in Sangenjaya. The atmosphere was chill and the chef was super friendly. We loved the variety throughout the course, especially in their non-sushi dishes. Ingredients like fatty tuna, creamy uni, and two different types of ikura made the course feel luxurious. Ok I lied you can find this in Tokyo now too 🫣 The word “furikake” literally means to sprinkle, so furikake is a mix meant to be sprinkled over rice. This Kyorayu Furikake (京ラー油ふりかけ) is SO addictive. It has chilies, garlic, sesame seeds and more. Honestly an umami bomb 💣 I often find it in souvenir shops, especially in stations like Kyoto or Shin-Osaka Station, where the Shinkansen stops. Do you like the flavor of cherry blossoms? 🇯🇵🌸 This year I randomly got really into sakura flavored sweets and it was because of THIS cafe. It’s located in Nakano about 5 mins away from the station. I’d come back even outside of sakura season🏃🏻‍♂️ Heads up, the sakura items aren’t offered until 12 pm, so if you go before that, you’ll have to wait outside. Couldn’t believe the quality of this restaurant for the price! 🤯 HOUSE is a chic and comfortable restaurant perfect for date night or a night out with a small group of friends. The open kitchen makes the space feel spacious. They use seasonal ingredients sourced from around Japan and use them in their modern French-Japanese fusion menu 👨🏻‍🍳 The course only costs ¥7800, which is less than $50. Most restaurants in the area would charge double the price! How many of these giant gyoza could you eat? 🥟 Generally I try to spend ¥1500 or less for lunch if I’m eating out, and Kailaku lets me do that. My food came out literally within 5 minutes of me ordering it. Gyoza are juicy and don’t fall apart when you eat them. Have you ever heard of Shibamata? 🇯🇵 Shibamata is located in eastern Tokyo, a little under an hour away from Shinjuku. You can feel the old school Edo vibes here everywhere from the shops, to the sights, to the restaurants 🏯 It's one of my favorite underrated spots in Tokyo and is definitely worth visiting for the afternoon. One of my favorite experiences in Japan! 👨🏻‍🎨 My friend and I made our own Edo Kiriko glasses in Asakusa! I initially thought it might be really difficult, but the teacher gave an easy to understand explanation and we had some time to practice on model glasses before diving into our own. We were able to choose the shape, size, and color of our glasses before starting our designs 🎨 The whole experience lasts about 90 minutes. Highly recommend it!
