No ski gear? No ski friends? This is how I went skiing from Tokyo. I took an Orion Tours night bus from Shinjuku to X-JAM Takai Fuji. The bus ride was around 7–8 hours, and we arrived super early, around 5 AM. Then I got to ski the whole day before taking the bus back around 5 PM and arriving in Shinjuku around 11 PM. The plan was around ¥8,000 and included round-trip bus, lift pass, and even onsen access. I only brought warm base layers and rented everything else there, ski/snowboard gear, wear, gloves, and goggles for around ¥2,000. It’s definitely a long day, but if you want to ski in Japan without owning gear or having people to go with, this is such an easy option. スキー道具も、一緒に行く友達もない？これで東京からスキー行けた。 新宿からオリオンツアーの夜行バスで、X-JAM高井富士に行ってきました。 バスはだいたい7〜8時間で、朝5時くらいに到着。そこから一日スキーして、帰りは17時くらいに出発、新宿には夜11時くらいに戻りました。 プランは約8,000円で、往復バス、リフト券、温泉まで込み。 私は暖かいインナーだけ持って行って、あとは全部レンタルしました。スキー・スノボ用品、ウェア、グローブ、ゴーグルまで借りられて、レンタルは約2,000円。 かなり長い一日だけど、道具がなくてもほぼ手ぶらで行けるし、一人でも行きやすいのでおすすめです。 #TokyoDayTrip #SkiJapan #JapanTravel #Nagano #SnowTrip

Solo trip to Kamakura 🌿 Only about 1 hour from Tokyo, such a nice little escape. I went to Ichijō Ekan Sansō, a historic place and Important Cultural Property with a really beautiful atmosphere. You can relax while looking over a Japanese garden, it felt so peaceful and refreshing. 実はソニーから内定をもらってたんやけど、最終的に辞退することにした。 めっちゃ悩んだけど、自分のキャリアの方向性を考えた結果、外資系の経営コンサルティング会社を選んだんよ。英語をもっと使いたかったし、早い段階でいろんな業界を経験してみたかったから。 ソニーはほんまに尊敬してる。技術力もすごくて、新しいテクノロジーを生み出し続ける会社。でも配属予定やった部署はすごく日本的で、英語を使う機会が少なかった。 いつかまた違う形でソニーと関われたらいいなと思うけど、今は自分らしいキャリアを一歩ずつ築いていきたい。 I actually got a job offer from Sony, but I decided to say no. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. I really respect Sony for its engineering excellence and innovation, but the department I was placed in was very traditional and mostly in Japanese. I wanted to work somewhere I could use my English more and explore different industries early in my career, so I chose a foreign management consulting company instead. Nordic Fair 2025 at Keio Department Store in Shinjuku. As someone from Sweden, there was no way I could miss this. Swedish food and culture right in the middle of Tokyo. The best part was definitely the sweets. Princess cake, kardemumma rolls, and even Café Åter from Tokyo had a booth with real Swedish fika vibes. Coffee, pastries, and that cozy Nordic feeling. Swedish and Japanese culture might seem different, but honestly they share a lot. Both calm, simple, and connected to nature. In Sweden, we just take it a bit further with our "at-home" time: candles, calm, and comfort. At the fair, the Try Sweden! talk show introduced Swedish lifestyle ideas like fredagsmys (that cozy Friday night), tacos parties, and hållbarhet (sustainability). It made me realize how much I still love that part of Swedish culture. 台湾の小琉球で過ごした日々は、本当に楽園みたいな時間だった。 透き通った海で泳いだり、のんびりビーチで過ごしたり、シュノーケリングでウミガメに出会えた瞬間は一生忘れないと思う。島自体はとても小さくて、友達と一緒にスクーターでぐるっと走り回れるのも楽しかった。台北から新幹線とフェリーであっという間に着くのに、広がっていたのはまるで別世界のような景色。 夕方には外でバーベキューをして、沈む夕日を眺めながら美味しいご飯と笑い声に包まれた時間は最高の幸せだった。小さな島で過ごしたこの数日は、ただの旅行じゃなく、仲間と作る宝物のような思い出になった。 Our days in Xiaoliuqiu, Taiwan felt like pure paradise. Swimming in the clear blue ocean, relaxing on the beach, and snorkeling with sea turtles are memories I’ll never forget. The island is so small that we could ride around it on scooters, laughing with friends as we explored. From Taipei, it was just a short Shinkansen and ferry ride, and suddenly we were in a completely different world. Evenings were spent having BBQ outdoors, watching the sunset, eating delicious food, and sharing laughter. Taipei trip! This was my very first time in Taiwan, and I went to visit my friend from university in Sweden who is now studying abroad here for a year. We’re both in the same Industrial Engineering program — I study Japanese, and she studies Chinese. Golden Week was the perfect chance to reunite. Getting to Taiwan from Japan was so easy, and from the moment we landed, everything already felt amazing. The food alone was worth the trip: dumplings, ox bone noodles, and of course boba tea — nothing beats having it here in its home country. We explored the night markets full of neon lights, lively crowds, and endless street food. We also escaped into nature — soaking in a natural hot spring right next to an ice-cold river in the mountains was something I’ll never forget. The highlight at the end was a rooftop bar high in the mountains, overlooking the night view of Taipei. Sharing food, drinks, and laughs with friends while watching the whole city glowing below us — those are the kinds of memories that stay forever. Honestly, Taipei is the perfect mix: incredible food, great shopping with Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean brands, a unique cultural blend, and nature just a short trip away. Hot, humid, and somehow you’re still expected to wear long suit trousers in the office. Corporate life here doesn’t play. I usually match what I wear with the weather. Black or darker clothes on cloudy days, lighter clothes when the sun is out. It doesn’t change the heat, but it makes me feel a little more in control. Summer office outfits here are all about walking that line between formal enough to pass the dress code and cool enough to survive the train ride. It’s actually impossible to be bored in Tokyo! There are just too many cafés, shops, and places to explore ☕🍓 This time it was strawberry season, and even at one of my favorite shops, Afternoon Tea Living, everything was strawberry-themed and adorable. And honestly, even their other products are so stylish I always get too excited and end up buying more than I planned. For dinner we went to shabu-shabu. It’s super cost-effective, and I used to come here a lot in high school so it felt nostalgic. Honestly, you can never run out of things to do in Tokyo. Writing my master thesis while doing a full-time internship in Japan was one of the toughest but most rewarding experiences of my life🇯🇵✨ My major is industrial engineering, connecting business and engineering to improve systems and strategies. I had also studied on exchange at Tokyo Tech, which made me want to come back to Japan. My thesis was on servitization, the strategic shift from only selling hardware to offering services and building new business models. The topic connected closely with my internship, which made it easy to find what to write about, but difficult to narrow the scope since I wanted to cover everything. In the end, I flew from Tokyo to Stockholm, defended my thesis, and graduated. Sony’s entrance ceremony was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced 🎉 It started early in the morning at Sony HQ in Shinagawa. Everyone had to wear suits. We had speeches, presentations, an office tour, and even a proper Japanese-style lunch. Then in the afternoon, we all moved to a concert hall. And because it’s Sony, of course there were live shows with artists, performers, even a comedian on stage. The scale was massive too with around 1,000 new employees across the Sony groups. Seeing that many people starting together really showed me how big the company is. …But here’s the plot twist: I didn’t actually start working here. In Japan, the new graduate job-hunting process is called shūkatsu (就活). 🔹 All new employees start in April. 🔹 Applications begin more than a year before joining. 🔹 After passing exams and interviews, you receive a naitei (内定), a promise of employment. 🔹 In October, there is a naiteishiki (内定式), a ceremony to welcome new hires. For Sony, I had one online IQ + personality test, then three interviews in Japanese.
