A reminder of those days comes alive during the Owari Tsushima Wisteria festival every late April. Tennogawa Park acts as home to beautiful wisteria trellises spanning a length of 275 meters with an area of around 5,000 square meters, making the perfect home for 12 varieties of wisterias. The blossoms wave in the gentle afternoon wind, while at night, they are illuminated in a radiant light for a surreal scene. Plus, a canal runs below the wisterias and reflects their purples off the water's surface, making for another way to enjoy these spring blossoms. 💜🦄💫 #japan #japandiaries #traveljapan #hiddenjapan #japantiktok
Sunomata Castle (墨俣城) 🏯✨ — the legendary “One-Night Castle” in Ogaki, Gifu. Built in 1566 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (then a rising samurai under Oda Nobunaga), this small fortress became famous for its clever construction. According to legend, it appeared overnight—but in reality, it was a smart strategy using pre-built materials assembled quickly to shock the enemy ⚔️ More than just a castle, it marks the beginning of Hideyoshi’s rise to power and Japan’s unification 🇯🇵 Today’s castle is a reconstruction, but the story, views, and cherry blossoms 🌸 still make it magical. 🏯🇯🇵 #japandiaries #samuraihistory #hiddenjapan #gifujapan #traveljapan

Ryujin Waterfalls. 💦🍃 A mystical waterfall where the White Dragon dwells. The Ryujin Falls in Nakatsugawa, Gifu, are one of the 50 Famous Waters of Gifu Prefecture. The name Ryujin, which means “Dragon God,” was given to the waterfall because a Dragon God legend has been handed down that says on a certain day a white dragon appeared before the villagers, then rose up to the heavens. The extremely clear water of the powerful falls drops twelve meters and is said to change color seven times a day, exhibiting shades of cobalt blue and emerald blue, among others. 📍1057-2 Kawaue, Nakatsugawa, Gifu 509-9201 #japan #nature #japaneseculture #japantravel #japanguide #japantrip
