Watching you grow into the young woman you are today fills my heart with so much joy, gratitude, and emotion. I may not always have the perfect words to express how much you mean to me, but please know that you are deeply loved, cherished, and prayed for every single day. My daughter, as you step into this new year of your life, may God guide every step you take. May He protect you from people and situations that are not meant for you. May He give you wisdom to make the right decisions, courage to walk away from what will hurt you, and strength to keep going when life becomes difficult. May God open doors that no one can shut. May He bless your education, your dreams, your future, and everything you put your hands to. May you never lack genuine love, good people, peace, and happiness. I pray that you will never lose yourself trying to please others. Always remember your worth. May you grow into a strong, kind, confident, and God-fearing woman. PART 2 — “WHY DID YOU CALL HIM?” She began explaining what happened. “A young man named Gideon used to be involved in our church ministry. I had called him because I wanted him to explain something to me concerning some Bible teaching and an issue involving the church. He was supposed to come on Sunday, but he didn’t. Later, he called and apologized. Then, on Tuesday night, he came to the house around 9 p.m. I was already preparing to sleep when my daughter told me, ‘Mommy, Pastor Gideon is around.’ I was surprised because it was already late. But because I had called him earlier, I spoke with him. Nothing happened between us. He left. The next morning, my husband returned home. After the children had gone to school, he called me into the room. I went there and sat down. He asked me, ‘Are you going to your treatment today, or are you coming to church?’ I told him I would go for my treatment first and then come to church. Then he asked me, ‘What was that man doing in my house at that hour of the night?’ I laughed because the question sounded strange to me. I said, ‘What do you mean? I called him because I needed to speak with him about something concerning the church.’ But my husband became angry. He accused me of disrespecting him. I told him, ‘I don’t understand why you are making this into something else. I called him because I needed help with something, and you were not available when I needed you.’ That made him even more upset. He asked me why I had called Gideon instead of calling him. I explained, ‘Because you are my husband, but when I need you and you are not available, what am I supposed to do?’ He said I had disrespected him. Then he walked away. I went into the bathroom to take my bath. I thought the matter was over. I was wrong.”
PART 1 — “TELL US THE TRUTH” “We are here at the home of a pastor’s wife who has been trending on social media. People have heard different versions of the story, but today, we want to hear directly from the woman involved. Madam, tell us the truth. We heard that your spinal cord was damaged. We also saw the videos and pictures circulating online. What exactly happened to you?” The woman took a deep breath. “Yes, sir.” “How old are you?” “I am 42 years old.” “And you have been married to this pastor since when?” “I married my husband in 2007.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “When I married him, I never imagined that my marriage would become like this. There were times when small disagreements would happen in the house, and instead of talking things through, he would beat me. I was beaten many times. And I lost three pregnancies because of the violence.” Everyone became quiet. “My first miscarriage happened after he beat me. I fell and hit my stomach on the ground. I lost the pregnancy. But I didn’t tell people what was really happening. I kept quiet because I wanted to protect my marriage. My family knew something was wrong, but I kept trying to hold everything together. Eventually, God blessed me with three children. I have three children now, and my first daughter is 14 years old.” The interviewer asked, “So why are you speaking about the beatings now?” She answered, “As I grew older, I started noticing pains in my body. Whenever I went for treatment or massage, people would examine me and ask questions. They would say, ‘Madam, has your husband ever beaten you?’ At first, I denied it. But now I cannot continue hiding what happened to me. That is why I am finally telling the truth.” The interviewer leaned forward. “Then tell us about the incident that happened recently. What happened between you and your husband?” She looked down. “That Wednesday changed everything.” She began explaining what happened. “A young man named Gideon used to be involved in our church ministry. What happened next happened so quickly that I couldn’t even believe it. My wife confronted my sister, and the situation turned into a physical fight. Before I could properly intervene, my sister was already on the floor, receiving blows from my wife to her face. My wife was throwing punches as if she were in a boxing ring fighting a professional boxer. By the time I was able to separate them, my sister’s eyes were already swollen. One of them was turning completely black. That was when my phone started ringing. My family members started calling me. Immediately after it happened, my sister picked up her phone and started calling everybody. And before I knew it, the entire family knew what had happened. Now everyone is angry with me. They are telling me that I’m not a man because I allowed my wife to beat up my elder sister. But nobody is asking what happened before the fight. Nobody is asking how many times I warned my sister. Nobody is asking how long my wife endured the insults, embarrassment, and disrespect. Everyone is only looking at what happened that day. But I know my wife. I know my sister. And I know exactly how this situation got to this point.
