I’m often asked what I, as a Japanese person, would like people from overseas to experience. Japan has so many beautiful and proud cultural traditions, so it’s difficult to choose just one. But the experience I most want people from other countries to have is onsen culture. Not in big cities like Tokyo, but in rural onsen areas away from the city—places surrounded by nature. I truly hope visitors can experience hot springs in a natural, peaceful environment. I personally came to love onsen as an adult, and now I’ve completely fallen in love with them. Being in a hot spring surrounded by nature feels as if you’re melting into the natural world itself—it’s a truly wonderful and unique experience. That’s why, when people from all over the world come to Japan, I hope they will experience onsen culture. There are probably only a few princes left in the world, and samurai are long extinct. Until 2024, fashion had nothing to do with me. Partly because I didn’t have much money, but also because I only spent money on what I truly needed—cameras and lenses. As I started doing more work as a creator, I gained many experiences. However, what I went through at the end of last year was so heavy that it almost broke me mentally. Because of that, this year I decided to change myself—more precisely, to do whatever I could to lift my own spirit, even just a little. One of those challenges was fashion. After I started challenging myself with fashion, even just walking down the same streets I always walk felt different. I found myself going outside with a new mindset. I feel like it even had a positive effect on my work, and I finally realized that fashion can actually be fun. For my trip to Hokkaido, because it was an unfamiliar place, I had a lot of gear with me, and above all, to be prepared in case we encountered a bear in the mountains, I traveled with other people! I love flying. But I think I’ve only been on a plane about 16 times in total. Four times for trips to the U.S., twice to Taiwan, four times to Hokkaido, four times to Okinawa, and twice to Kyushu. I always love the moment when the plane accelerates. My body gets pulled back into the seat, and then the vibrations kick in—that exact moment is my favorite. ✈️ #japanese

In January of this year, I was thinking deeply about how I want to live going forward. I realized that if I wanted to live positively, I had to take action—and that if I wanted to change myself, I had to be the one to start moving. This past year wasn’t one where I strongly felt a sense of personal growth. However, I do feel that it was a year in which I was able to change myself. So, regardless of whether I truly “grew” or not, it was a year filled with change. This year, I traveled to many places, and among them, the trip to Hokkaido that I had planned became my final journey of the year. Walking alone through snowy mountains, cold air brushing against my face, my lips drying in the chill. I walked through the mountains, my feet beginning to ache. My breath turned white, the air was clear, and I could hear the voices of birds. It felt as if the world existed only for me and the wildlife. I wasn’t able to encounter as much wildlife as I had hoped. But that only makes me look forward even more to returning to Hokkaido to photograph them next time. My adventure is only just beginning. If I can continue moving forward together with all of you, there would be no greater joy for me. #japanese #japan #naturelover

The coldest temperature I experienced was –9°C, but the feels-like temperature was –14°C. Hokkaido was covered in snow, the ground was frozen and slippery, and in the snowy mountains the snow was so deep that I sometimes got stuck and couldn’t move easily. It was honestly quite dangerous. However, for someone like me who was born and raised in Tokyo, snow-filled Hokkaido felt incredibly fresh and new, and I truly enjoyed the time I spent there. For the first time in my life, I jumped into Lake Tahoe. I’ve never jumped into any other lake, so it was truly a first-time experience for me. The reason I wanted to jump in was because the water was so clear and beautiful. It might also have been the excitement of coming to the United States for the first time and wanting to create a special memory. Many of my followers told me that in the U.S., you should never enter lakes or drink the water because of brain-eating amoebas, so maybe I shouldn’t have done it. But now, it’s a really good memory. One of the most amazing things about the United States is the vastness of its nature. I especially love nature, so whenever I see the landscapes in the U.S., I feel completely overwhelmed and captivated. #usa #japanese #ustrip

My weight used to be 48 kg, but it has increased to 53 kg. I go to a gym that costs $2 per session, and little by little, I’ve gained more muscle than before. This video was taken before I started strength training, so I was lighter and much slimmer than I am now. To be honest, I still don’t have a lot of muscle, and I’m still quite slim and light. But I feel that having some muscle in the upper body and a more solid build makes many kinds of clothes look better. They say having muscle is healthier, and moderate exercise also improves work performance. So I’d like to keep going to the gym and gradually build more muscle. When I traveled to the United States and Canada, many people talked to me. Some of them were my followers who recognized me and came up to say hello, but even people who didn’t know me tried to communicate with me in different ways—asking things like, “Where are you from?” or “Which country are you from?” Some people talked to me on ferries and airplanes, and others even spoke to me at airports. I think these interactions with so many people are what made my travels even more enjoyable. Recently, I’ve often found myself wishing that I could express my feelings more clearly in English, so I started studying English little by little again from yesterday. My goal for next year is to be able to speak much more English! Yesterday, two new people joined my subscription community. Thank you so much! One of the biggest personal challenges for me this year has been starting to wear glasses. Because I spend long hours editing every day, my eyes have been under a lot of strain since last year. At one point, even just walking outside during the day became painful—when light entered my eyes, they would start to hurt. Part of this may be due to having had LASIK surgery in the past, but my eyes are not very strong against light. When I look at bright light, I experience not only halo and glare effects, but also issues related to dry eyes. I’m not sure if it’s directly related, but I’ve also started to feel occasional discomfort in my eyes even when walking under the sun. So I decided to buy lightly tinted glasses to reduce UV exposure a little, as well as clear lenses with UV-cut coatings, to lessen the strain on my eyes. That’s the reason I started wearing glasses this year. However, glasses are also a fashion item, and I can’t say I feel completely confident with them yet. Depending on what I’m wearing or my hairstyle, there are many times when I feel they don’t suit me at all. Still, I’ve slowly been getting used to them. I received a gift from one of my followers who lives in the U.S.!! I’ve lost count of how many times she has sent me gifts… I’m truly grateful every single time. She knows how much I love Lay’s BBQ chips, so she sent me BBQ chips again!! I think I first fell in love with these chips about two years ago—maybe even three. Back then, a follower sent me a big box of snacks for Christmas, and inside were Lay’s potato chips!! Since then, I’ve been completely hooked. I think I’ve already eaten quite a lot of them this year too! During my travels in the U.S. and Canada, I went to many different places, but if you ask me what I ate the most, it was mint chocolate ice cream! I feel like I ate it as much as hamburgers, and honestly, it felt like I was traveling just to find ice cream shops wherever I went!! Especially in Canada—the ice cream there was absolutely amazing. I think Victoria is truly a beautiful place. It might be the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited. I really hope I can go back there someday. Victoria also had so many cute clothing shops! There were tons of adorable souvenirs too—Victoria is just amazing!!

Let me tell you some things about life in Kamakura, Japan! Kamakura is a very popular area, and it’s extremely hard to find a place to live. And even if you do find one, it’s usually expensive! Kamakura has many shrines and temples, and it’s a major tourist destination. There’s also the ocean, and while Yuigahama Beach is the most visited, I personally recommend Inamuragasaki Beach! Almost everything in Kamakura is “tourist-priced,” so restaurants here are often more expensive than in Tokyo— but honestly, the food in Tokyo usually tastes better! Komachi Street has lots of food and souvenirs, but it’s always crowded, and walking through it can be tough. For some reason, trains in Kamakura are often delayed! The Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) is convenient and super cute, but because there are so many tourists, the trains are always packed— almost bursting. So instead of riding the Enoden, I recommend walking or biking! If you want to ride a rickshaw in Kamakura, Kamakura JINRIKISHA is the best choice! And when you go to the beach, you always end up getting wet. Even if you don’t plan on playing in the water, suddenly you’re soaked. Sand constantly gets inside your shoes, so be careful! And even if you try to clean off the sand, you end up getting your whole body wet anyway. Then when you try to dry off with a towel, more sand magically appears on your skin again. It’s an endless cycle of getting wet! Life in Kamakura is expensive, and there are always many people. But it’s also full of nature and traditional Japanese atmosphere, so to me, it’s a very special place. #japan #japanese #kamakura

I’ve loved baseball ever since I was a child. When I was little, baseball was everything to me. Not only did I practice with my club team, but I would also go to the park and throw a ball against the wall alone for hours. I liked fielding more than batting. My position was shortstop, though I sometimes pitched as well. When I was in third grade, my mother went on a trip to California. She brought back a souvenir for me—a baseball covered with the names of the San Francisco Giants players. And for some reason… the shoes she brought back were from Manchester United! (laughs) I was so happy to receive that Giants ball. It made me dream of one day watching a Major League game in person. But that dream didn’t come true until I became an adult. Even so, I was truly happy to finally see a Major League game, and although I didn’t become a baseball player, one of my biggest dreams is to throw the ceremonial first pitch at an MLB game someday. I watched a Mets game, and I’m curious— is the uniform I’m wearing one of the official designs that players actually wear in games? I thought it looked really cool.
